Economy is fantastic as we fitted LPG at the same time! This now gives economy of equivalent of 35mpg with the performance of a modern van. I need the 3.9 diff as advertised as an option in the official VW original sales brochure if anyone has one for sale, as the van was only a non turbo diesel and therefore had something like a 4.9:1 in, I think which just doesn't make best use of the power and torque (138hp and 200ft/lb torque). Cruising is not as relaxed as it should be though due to the rear axle ratio.

I also have an original 1979 LT van I bought new and is part of the family and is still in showroom condition. I'll take some pics and post them if I can work out how! I can squeeze just about any engine into any vehicle, but computers are just far too difficult for me! I did it because I love these vans.
